Once you get to Karuizawa, there are many ski resorts around.
As long as you have a place to stay, you can ski to your heart's content.

Excellent sunny weather rate

It's disappointing when your ski trip ends up in a blizzard.
Karuizawa is often sunny even when the weather is high in the west and low in the east, which is typical of winter.
Even if you can't ski at other ski resorts, it's often OK at Karuizawa.
Even if you can't ski due to bad weather, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy Karuizawa.

The whole family can enjoy Karuizawa.

If you want to ski to the fullest, go skiing, and if you want to enjoy shopping, go shopping.

The following is ski resort information from the pension owner, for your reference.

Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort Best of all, it's conveniently located nearby !
I think it is so famous that there is no need to explain it, but I will explain it just in case.
Located in front of Karuizawa Station, next to the outlet, there are many courses and lifts.
Admission is free for children (elementary school age and younger) (please get a ticket issued at the entrance).
There is also an advanced course, which can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners, families to veterans.
Since there is an outlet next door, you can also skate with your shopping group and say, ``Let's meet at XX o'clock!''

Construction of the slopes begins in mid-October using both crusher-type snow machines and artificial snow machines, and skiing begins in early November.
The snow quality is based on artificial snow, but it is smooth throughout January.
In February, the snow can become a bit ice-cold-like, and in March, it can become sherbet-like, but the snow quality is much better than you might imagine, and is preferred by those who are competitive.
Due to its easy access, it was once called a sacred place for boarders on the internet, but since it is a popular ski resort with many skiers, it can get crowded on weekends.
We recommend using it on weekdays.
The lift fee for adults is a little high.

Karuizawa residents also use it often.
You can ski even if you have a little free time, and it is said that even skiers who used to go all the way to ski resorts, as they get older, end up settling on the nearby and convenient Prince Ski Resort.
Saku Ski Garden Parada "Japan's only ski resort directly connected to an expressway."
Rather, it is a ski resort for children and families.
It is divided into two parts, South Parada and North Parada, and South Parada can be used without getting off the expressway. Of course, you can also use it from the general road, but in that case it will be Kita Parada.
South Parada and North Parada are connected at the summit, but you have to ski a little. South Parada is for advanced users and North Parada is a more beginner-friendly course, so if you are using the highway from the highway and are a complete beginner or a family, exit the Smart Interchange and go from Kita Parada. It might be a good idea to go in.

The snow quality is made using the same snow machines as Karuizawa Prince Ski Resort and is based on artificial snow.
It is operated by the snow machine manufacturer (Kashiyama Industries) and Saku Hiraoyama Development Co., Ltd., in which the company invests.
Another attraction is that the sunny weather rate is higher than that of Karuizawa Prince Ski Resort (Saku City is one of the cities with the highest sunny weather rate in Japan).
The altitude is a little lower than Karuizawa, so the snow quality may be a little tougher.

After enjoying skiing, There is Hirao Onsen Miharashi-no-Yu (Minami Parada) with a spectacular view, where you can enjoy the hot spring while enjoying the magnificent style of Saku (800 yen for adults).

It is very close to Karuizawa.
As a Karuizawa resident, I usually go down to Saku to buy things that I can't get in Karuizawa, but this ski resort is located on a back road (please ask the pension owner).
A free shuttle bus is available from Sakudaira Station.
Karuizawa Snow Park (President Resort Karuizawa)It would be an exaggeration to say that it is specialized for families However, it is a very popular ski resort for families.
It's a ski resort that even kids can ski on their own if they can ride the lift by themselves.

Snow tubing, a specialty of the snow park, is also very popular.

There is also a day trip hot spring called Aioi no Yu.

The location will be Kita Karuizawa.
For Karuizawa residents, it's a short walk up the mountain, but Kita Karuizawa is a little higher in altitude than Karuizawa, so it's colder and snowier. Depending on road conditions, you may need a 4WD vehicle or a studless vehicle. There also seems to be a shuttle bus from Karuizawa Station (reservation required).
Asama 2000 ParkThe altitude is 2,000 meters, one of the highest in Japan. The course is located on the north slope and boasts a moderately hard burn and stable snow quality.
There is also a gentle slope course that even beginners can enjoy.
You can experience the thrill of gliding through the great outdoors with a vast panoramic backdrop of the mountains of the Northern Alps.
There are also plenty of ski/snowboard schools.
It also features a variety of activities, including a pole course, snowmobile riding experience, and snowshoe trekking on Mt. Takamine.
Nearby is Takamine Onsen, where you can take a day trip bath at Lamp-no-yu ( You can enjoy it from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Many Karuizawa residents who don't like the crowds at Prince Ski Resort go to Asama 2000 or Yunomaru.
If you go by car, it will take less than an hour from Karuizawa, depending on road conditions (from Naka-Karuizawa, it will take about 40 minutes at the earliest).
Snow removal will be done quickly, but you will have to climb up a winding road.
Especially on the way down, the view is great and the thrill is full. It's safe if you drive in a certain way (keep your car in 2nd gear and don't step on the foot brake as much as possible).
You can go by bus from Sakudaira Station. There is also a shuttle bus from Karuizawa Station (reservation required).
Yunomaru Ski ResortLike Asama 2000, this is also high in altitude and has good snow quality. is good. It's dry even in March.
If you look from Karuizawa, it's one street across from Asama 2000.
Many Karuizawa residents dislike the crowds at Prince Ski Resort and often go to Asama 2000 or Yunomaru.

The slopes are divided into left and right sides, with the left (Yunomaruyama) side being for advanced skiers and the right (Asamayama) side being for families.
In fact, this ski resort has a long slope with a medium slope, and is a hidden gem for boarders.
There are many skiers who recommend this place because you can enjoy a variety of courses, but there are also skiers who dislike boarders who avoid it.
Especially when it gets warm in March, this place, like Asama 2000, is at a high altitude so the quality of the snow is good, so it is recommended.

*It is said that the temperature drops by 0.6℃ for every 100m you climb. Since Karuizawa is 1000m, it is calculated to be nearly 6 degrees Celsius lower.

There are also plenty of ski/snowboard schools.
You can enjoy outpatient bathing at Yunomaru Kogen Hotel.

If you are going by car, it is a little further (about 10 minutes) from Asama 2000 from Karuizawa, but there are many users from Karuizawa, so it is completely within Karuizawa's territory.
Like the Asama 2000, snow removal is done quickly, and although it also requires climbing up a winding road, it is easier to drive. Still, it's safer to have a decent car.
You can also go by bus from Sakudaira Station (please note the operating dates).
Kazawa (Kazawa) Snow Area This is Tsumagoi's (super ?) A hidden ski resort.
The sunny weather rate seems to be 80%.
You can take a bath at Tobe-no-Yu, a day-trip hot spring sourced from the source of Kazawa, for a lift ticket + 500 yen.

There are two ways to get there by car, and if you go down past Yunomaru, the road seems to be quite difficult.
This is also the case when coming up from the Kita Karuizawa side.
Although it is relatively close to Karuizawa, vacant, and popular with some skiers, there is little information about it. Any further explanation is homework.
Pearl Call Tsumagoi Resort Ski ResortPearl Call Tsumagoi Resort Hotel attached It's a ski resort.
Kanto's longest gondola "Pal Cabin" 3200m. 4.5km from the summit It is a vast ski resort with powder snow that allows for long cruising, and there are plenty of gentle slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers.
This is a family-friendly ski resort that is ``a ski resort that families can enjoy with peace of mind, with thorough consideration for the safety of children.''
Due to the high altitude, the snow quality is good.
It's rarely crowded, and it's a little-known ski resort, but it may be a bit unsatisfactory for advanced skiers.

There is also a natural hot spring, Azumaya-san no Yu.
From Karuizawa, it takes about an hour by car.
Sugadaira Kogen Snow Resort Sugadaira ski resort is surprisingly close to Karuizawa.
By car, you can often arrive earlier than Kusatsu or Manza.
There are many ski resorts for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers.
Some people who want to enjoy skiing in earnest go all the way to Sugadaira.
Kusatsu International Ski Resort Kusatsu is not only famous for hot springs but also There are many ski resorts.
If you drive from Karuizawa, it is often faster here than from Manza.
Route buses depart from Karuizawa Station, Kusagaru Kotsu Bus Route and , Seibu Kogen Bus Route is in operation.
Of course, the hot springs are also attractive.
Manza Onsen Ski Resort Also located at a high altitude of nearly 2000m The selling point is the outstanding powder skiing.
It is also known as the setting for the movie ``Take Me Skiing,'' and is said to be a memorable ski slope for people of this generation.

When viewed from the Karuizawa side, it feels like it's just before Kusatsu, but it often takes longer than Kusatsu.
By car, you will take the Manza Highway (toll required). Snow removal is no problem here either, but the winding road is not very steep, but it is surprisingly far.
By bus, there is the Seibu Kogen Bus Route that departs from Karuizawa Station.
The hot springs are also attractive.
