It feels good to drive or tour on the plateau. !

Staying overnight gives you plenty of time to travel and avoid traffic jams.

winding road

・The R18 old road, Usui Pass, has 184 corners over a distance of approximately 11km.
You can turn the steering wheel until you get tired of it.
You can also drive around and enjoy some sightseeing spots, such as Lake Usui and Megane Bridge.

・The R18 bypass is officially Iriyama Pass, but compared to the old road Usui Pass, there are fewer corners at around 40, but you can enjoy the large right and left corners and the deep curves. Masu. The road is wide, and there are long sections with two lanes uphill.
What is surprising is the gradient, which is smaller on the old road, and trucks carrying heavy loads may choose the narrow old road.
Additionally, both Usui Pass and Iriyama Pass are prone to fog, so you need to be careful.

・Wami Pass between Shimonita and Shimonita is characterized by a course that curves up and down.
It was developed when the expressway was constructed, and is now easier to drive than before, but it is narrower.

・If you want to climb the Hokkaido train, the 146 is more interesting to drive than the Shiraito Highway.
There are many sightseeing spots along the Shiraito Highway, such as Old Karuizawa, Mikasa Hotel, and Shiraito Falls.
146 can be congested in the evening with cars and motorcycles getting off the Hokkaido light train.

・From the teahouse on the pass, on a clear day, you will probably see the Onioshi Highway.
Although this is a toll road with few corners, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of Asama.

Karuizawa and motorsports

Did you know that Japan's first race was ``Asama Volcano Race''?
That was in 1955. It was held with the cooperation of Kasuke Hoshino III and others. We were unable to obtain permission in Nagano Prefecture, so we ended up in Kita Karuizawa.
Some of the pension owners in Karuizawa are living witnesses to this incident.
Currently, Giro de Karuizawa and Asama Hill Climb and other motor sports events are held here.
Karuizawa has many motorsports fans, whether it's motorcycles or cars.

Outdoor events

Events that are irresistible to fans will be held, such as cross-country competitions, snow driving events, and snowmobile classes.

winter driving

It starts snowing in Karuizawa from the second half of December, but normally there is not much snowfall. Even if it rains, the snow is removed quickly, so it is often possible to drive on the main roads during the day with summer tires.
However, if you go a little further, studless tires are a must. Also, at night, the snow that melts during the day freezes and becomes an ice burn, which is extremely dangerous.
Even with studless tires, if the snow accumulates to a certain extent, you will not be able to drive on them. It's safer to have a chain, but you can still get stuck.
If you are coming by car in winter, please check with the pension regarding the surrounding conditions.
If you get stuck in the Karuizawa area and have trouble, please try asking for help on SNS etc.
Bikes are not allowed in winter. The post office's red bikes run even in the middle of winter, but they have spiked tires.
Please also refer to this information.

bike malfunction

It's a big deal when your bike breaks down while you're traveling.
The last one may be JAF, but there is also a motorcycle shop in Karuizawa called ``Sato Waten''.
You can also repair your motorcycle at the ``Yamashita Auto Repair Factory'' (open on Saturdays) in front of Nakakaruizawa Station.

Close to the station, ski resorts, golf courses, tennis courts, outlets, etc. all within 5 minutes by car. Yet it is a quiet, woody mansion surrounded by nature. The dazzling green lawn of the large garden and the handmade quilts that make use of the grain of the wood make the interior look full of country mood. It's popular with families because of its relaxing atmosphere and the smiling faces of its slightly chubby moms. After filling your stomach with simple Western-style home-cooked food, enjoy a drink while looking at the starry sky from the skylight. Owner P recently bought a steed! My hobby has changed to surfing. But I love bikes, and I understand how riders feel! So welcome! Tel: 0267-42-7616
