Tsuruya, a huge supermarket in Karuizawa, has gone beyond being a supermarket and is now a tourist spot.
Tsuruya is a local supermarket that can be found in Miyota and other nearby cities, but the one in Karuizawa is exceptional.
In terms of sales per store, it is one of the largest supermarkets in Japan.
Especially during the season, high-quality ingredients that are not sold at regular supermarkets are lined up to meet the expectations of the villa people, and you can see the unusual sight of them being sold in descending order of price. Previously, there were high-end supermarkets such as Meijiya Super and Kinokuniya Super in the former Karuizawa Ginza, but now it seems like Tsuruya is handling all of them.

Note: Previously, there was Seibu Shopping Plaza in Sengataki, Jusco in Nakakaruizawa, and even Mitsukoshi during the season on the shores of Lake New Town.

2017/4/27 A new supermarket DELiCiA has opened in the former Matsuya location.
True to its advertising slogan, ``Delicia is a locally-based food supermarket that supports the lives of local people, and also focuses on developing products made in Shinshu,'' it has become a Karuizawa-like supermarket.
It's not as big as Tsuruya, but it's open until 11pm.
Although it has just opened, I am looking forward to seeing what kind of supermarket it will evolve into.

In Karuizawa, all stores, including convenience stores, close at 11pm.
After that, if you really need to go shopping, go to Miyota and SEIYU is open 24 hours a day. Convenience stores are also open.
When you get down to Saku, there is a huge Jusco.
